Having dental work done can be intimidating for some members of our patient family, so we are pleased to offer oral sedation for those wishing to utilize it in our general dentistry clinic in Gasoline Alley.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is the use of medication (typically a pill) administered in our office for those patients who require longer lasting sedation. This method is a slower means to achieve the desired level of sedation, so we require our patients wishing to utilize oral sedation to arrive at least an hour early for their appointment.

The effects of the oral sedative are longer lasting than that of other methods such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas), so it is imperative that patients utilizing oral sedation do not drive themselves to and from their dental appointment and continue to have the supervision of a responsible adult until the sedation effect has worn off. It is a safe way for patients who may be a little nervous about receiving the dental care and treatment that they need.  If you have questions about using this type of sedation, please don’t hesitate to ask.
