What is Botox?

For TMJ and muscle soreness Dr. Wilson can inject botox into the masseter and temporalis muscles. The botox acts as a dimmer switch to decrease the amount of muscle activity which can greatly reduce the discomfort the patient is experiencing.

For cosmetic treatments, Dr. Wilson can help reduce, or prevent, wrinkles in the eyes and forehead region. Examples are; the glabella or 11's area, crows feet, brow lift, bunny lines, or the forehead.

How does Botox treatment progress?

The first time you come in, Dr. Wilson can do a free consultation with you to discuss the areas botox is desired, the number of units of botox recommended, and cost.

When you want the first botox injection, Dr. Wilson will make sure to examine your specific anatomy and muscle movement to discern where and how much botox should be injected. Dr. Wilson will take some before photos, draw injection site dots on the skin, take photographic records of the injection sites, and then inject the botox.

Once Dr. Wilson has injected the botox there will be a 2 week follow up visit to make sure each patient is achieving the desired outcomes, and Dr. Wilson can top up any areas needing more botox.

Then the botox will last for 3-6 months depending on the person, site, and dosage, before wearing off, and each patient can have their own recall schedule to maintain the desired outcome.
